  Paul Chen Katanas

Paul Chen Katana Swords.

Paul Chen Katanas Epitomizing the art of the Samurai sword maker, hand crafted at the Dalian (China) forge of Paul Chen, the widely respected authority on the art of oriental sword making. Displaying features usually found only on original Samurai swords, these pieces provide a unique opportunity to own a katana of a quality usually found only in the private collections, museums or in the Orient.

The Paul Chen foundry in China started with the first affordable clay tempered katana the Shinto Katana. Now the foundry produces countless replica katanas and medieval swords to include the Paul Chen practical line and folded series. Prices online vary widely with many flyby night companies or e-bay sales offering used swords and seconds. As an authorized dealer Arms of Valor, Ltd. only offers new swords out of the original box, which is only opened for inspection to insure quality. The cutting tests speak for themselves!

Paul Chen Medieval Swords
Paul Chen Medieval Swords - The William Marshal Sword (2000-GT) priced at $251. The crossguard and pommel are solid stainless steel with a wooden handle wrapped in black leather (the grip is laced leather allowing for a better grip that prevents slipping). The tang appears to be peened, but the visible portion is very small, we did not take this sword apart to see if the tang was as narrow as the peened portion looks. If there is any weakness in the tang it will be found during our testing.

The William Marshal Sword is light weighing 2 pounds, but the blade feels tip heavy with a balance point of 7 inches. The blade has a mirror finish with a slightly sharp edge, but lacks the razor sharpness of the Generation 2. Pressure can be applied with the thumb without drawing blood. We are going to test it without adding any further edge to the blade (out of the box). The scabbard that comes with this sword is bamboo covered with leather with steel tip and throat.
